We’ve got two days of principle photography under our belts now on the “Reality” shoot. So far, it’s been a blast. I can’t wait to see what it looks like. In two weeks, we’ll hit the ‘mansion’ and shoot the date and invasion scenes, and more. I’m fired up!

I have a new IMDb photo on my profile. It’s one Neil Kellen took one day for me, in a panic, after realizing I had no photos to post on the “Reality” website.

November is going to be an expensive month, because it’s when a few different gadgets I’m wanting all come out around the same time. I’m looking forward to the Kinect, the Samsung Focus and the latest Assassin’s Creed game.

I’ve been pretty darn terrible at updating here, and think I should probably turn back to my ridiculous image posting. It always inspired me to sign in and update, so here’s today’s:

I’ve embedded the widget here so you can listen in live, or listen to the recording. Right now, it’s the previous week’s show, but I’m assuming once the new one goes live tonight around 8:00pm, it’ll be here.

Wish us luck!

I’m posting a link to an interview done with Lewis and Theresa by RogueCinema.com. They were asked about the movie “victimEYES”. There’s some stuff in there even I hadn’t heard before, so I thought it was a good read. RogueCinema is also the group that wrote that review of “victimEYES” on its IMDb page.

This weekend, we shot in sub-freezing temperatures in the woods for Marx Pyle’s new film, “Silence of the Belle”. It was fun but COLD!

Christmas was fun, New Years was fun. My brother Garth was in town and it was good to hang out with him for a while.

Cousin Damon and newly dubbed “Cousin” Meredith were in for the holidays, too. We’re now in discussions for a trip to the left coast to visit.

Angie, the kids and I went to Nashville for a baby vacation. It was really nice to get out of town and just wander around a different place for a while.

I suppose I had more than I thought. Happy New Year!

This was a mistake.

I recently got Season 1, Disc 1 from Netflix, and watched the pilot and second episode. I’m now disappointed that I’ve let the show go for so long, but at the same time, SUPER-EXCITED that I’ve got a show to watch this summer, when all my other shows stop.

The reason I’d been holding off is because I’m now into Heroes, How I Met Your Mother, Law & Order, LOST, The Office, 30 Rock, My Name is Earl and maybe one or two more I can’t recall right now. It would be hard to commit more time to more TV. But the timing of my discovery couldn’t be better, because all of my shows will be wrapping up in about a month. Then, I can catch up at my own pace to the new kid on the block.

Also, Chris and I finished Army of Two last night. After buying the game, brand new, for $19.99 at Wal-Mart, I talked Sean and Chris into picking it up. Sean and I played through the first few levels together, but with his erratic schedule, it’s often kind of tricky catching up online. Then Chris picked it up, too, and he and I blasted through it in three or four nights. There’s still plenty of reason to go back and play more, also, so not only is squeezing the life out of existing games fun, but now finding the cheapos and having fun with them is great recently, too.

Like Darren, I don’t know that whining about my own personal struggle is prudent, considering that many people aren’t even CLOSE to getting services restored, but I had an interesting talk with a co-worker that kind of got me thinking. This ice storm we’re having is the most disruptive weather-related situation I can recall. When there’s snow, schools close, roads close, but it goes away. When there’s a tornado, there’s a path of destruction, and though it’s completely devastating to that area, its effects are not felt widespread.

This ice storm knocked hundreds of thousands of people out of power in the dead of winter, which had a domino effect which then salted the wounds of the power outage. Because it was such a massive attack on the power grids, KEY facilities like hospitals, schools and water treatment plants weren’t able to be instantly restored as they would in other emergency situations. There are TONS of boil advisories in the western part of Kentucky now, because they can’t treat the water without electricity. I heard stories of police taking doctors and nurses to work because they couldn’t get there otherwise.

My power was restored only three days later, and my comfort level with being Angie’s guest was beginning to wear. Not because of my host, AT ALL, just because of my INABILITY to BE HOME. I like being home. But more to the point, I like the OPTION of being home. And that wasn’t available to me. So I can’t IMAGINE what it’s like for the people still affected, in hotels, with relatives or out of town, waiting for service.

My mother and dad lost power, twice, over the course of the week. Once immediately, the next time for about an hour and a half on Friday. At the time of writing this, Angie’s parents are STILL without power, and are with Angie. In situations like that, it can’t be easy for anyone involved.

Changing the subject a bit, I’m really glad we ended up watching the Super Bowl. Angie and I were a bit ‘meh’ on the whole situation, since we didn’t give a crap about either team involved, but after talking, both settled on the Cardinals; Angie because of their apparent underdog status, me because Warner used to play for the Rams. If I HAVE a favorite team, I suppose it would be them. They’re the only ones I pay much attention to at all. Living in Colts/Bears country, it’s a no-no, anyway.

<rant> I’m going to say it, and you may disagree with me, and I don’t care. I don’t even like typing this phrase because of its severe overuse recently. If I can find another way to describe it, I’ll rephrase this statement, but here it goes: The Office has jumped the shark. I’m not sure when. I don’t have a specific instance in mind. I just keep watching it and thinking, “Man, this show used to be FUNNY.” I keep giving it pity-viewings, hoping it will snap out of it, but I just don’t find it as funny anymore, ESPECIALLY the ones Paul Lieberstein writes. After every especially bad one, Angie or I say, “I bet Toby wrote this one”, and we’re generally right. What’s really a bummer is that I LOVE Toby’s character on the show. I think he’s one of the most underused characters, actually. I love Michael’s completely unfounded resentment and anger towards him. But when Paul writes Michael Scott, he writes him like a mean, self-centered moron. The best Michael episodes, to me, are when he’s written like a well-intentioned, un-hip, bumbling guy that has a ridiculous vocabulary, but loves his job and the people that work for him. </rant>

Stay warm, Tri-State.

I was talking with Chris recently, who told me about his idea to revamp his site completely away from a blog-type forum, and go in a totally new direction. I’ll let him tell you that, and not steal his thunder. But it got me to thinking: what could I do new with my site?

The blog thing is fine, and I definitely wouldn’t get rid of it, but maybe it’s time for a new format, where the blog is one PART of a bigger, more all-inclusive web presence. I’m not sure yet what I want to do, but if anyone has any constructive thoughts, I’d be happy to soak them all in.

A new design is DEFINITELY in order. I’ve been working on one for quite a while now, and that will happen for sure, but I’m thinking more as far as content. I’d like to do some more regular stuff, but have trouble sometimes with just a generic blog form of textual free-form thought. If I had a more specific goal, like a weekly game review or video of some kind, it would beat the whole “what to post” struggle, and I could just bang something out.

That’s the feel I’m getting around the net as I look at several countdowns and year-in-review articles, that this year just wasn’t so great.

I didn’t really get that. I can’t really think of stuff that happened to me this year that was much different than in years before. Yes, the economy is not doing well, but I was reading that several economic institutions are saying that spending was up around 2% from last year, which is the smallest increase from year to year in recent history, but it’s still UP. That I found surprising.

I have often thought about whether working in news numbs me to a lot of things, maybe making me more cynical, or take big news with a grain of salt. Perhaps that’s why not much phased me, but who knows?

I had a great time with Angie, the kids, my parents, siblings, aunts, cousins and friends this holiday season, so it’s going out on a high note for me, personally.

Anybody get anything cool for Christmas? I did. HD Camcorder! If I can figure out why the video output is kinda choppy, I’ll post some vids on here soon.

Neil Kellen is putting together a movie called ‘Abaddon’. He’s decided to make his entire production “open-source”, getting input, donations, script help, etc from the community. It’s a concept that got him some attention in the indie horror scene, and he was interviewed by a big blog in the topic.

Visit his production company’s website:

http://www.digitalspectrumfilms.com

And read the interview with Dead Harvey:

http://deadharvey.blogspot.com/2008/10/exclusive-interview-with-neil-kellen.html

Also, I’m trying to butter him up to let me be in it. Perhaps a few plugs on my blog and help putting together the upcoming Abaddon-specific website will help. =)
